“There’s just something about it”

The first words I often hear when asking people about downtown Oregon City. Some will elaborate, some will not. Some can go on to tell me about the history, the well-loved buildings, the architecture, and some will go on to tell me about the “feel” of being downtown. Finding belonging in one of the businesses, feeling at home and comfortable, knowing the people that run these businesses are here to create a space for us. 

Downtown Oregon City is one of those places that once you visit, you will remember. And trying to put into words what makes this place so special is a challenge. It’s more than history, it’s more than the buildings, it’s more than the businesses, it’s the complete picture. I can sit here and tell you about all the places to visit while you are here. I could choose to give you recommendations for restaurants to try, boutiques to shop, and cafes to find your favorite new specialty coffee…but the truth is, what makes downtown Oregon City so special is a combination of all of these factors that once it is experienced, you’ll also be saying “there’s just something about it.” 

Sometimes we don’t need words.

Sometimes all we need to do is park, walk, and explore. With an openness to see what we can find.
